Submitted by Hilary P., Sprout Contributor
The Mercy Center of the Arts Preschool provides a unique, correlated program for children age three and up focusing on music, art, dramatic movement, literature and science. The Mercy Center’s philosophy is based on structuring a program with the child at the core of the curriculum. Children engage in a variety of hands-on, multi-sensory based activities which lead to new experiences and learning. The Mercy Center program fosters the development of creativity and self-assurance through encouragement, positive reinforcement and respect for the individual.

Preschool Classes offered:
Art: Children develop creativity, imagination, and self-expression as they work on their fine motor skills through hands-on art experiences.
Music: Children grow in awareness and curiosity about music through singing, listening, moving, creating and playing instruments and more.
Dramatic Movement and Literature: This area introduces the child to the world of language and movement, encouraging verbal and nonverbal expression, creativity and a love for reading.
Science: Science class recognizes the child’s innate curiosity and strives to guide them through exploration and discovery, encouraging observation, classification and communication, with an emphasis on nature.
Friday Special Session: This optional session for four and five year olds offers opportunities for additional learning and exploration. Through a partnership with Lake Erie Ballet, these children are exposed to creative movement, music, drama and dance on a periodic basis.
Enrichment Afternoons for the Pre-K child: An extra session available for children who will enter kindergarten the following year. Enrichment Afternoons expand on themes and provide opportunities for intensified learning and application of related skills.
