This year, the first official day of summer is June 21st. So what can you do to celebrate this exiting day? Check out this list of fun activities to do with family and friends to ring in the summer we have all been waiting for.
Plan a relaxed day at home- have an outdoor picnic of sandwiches, fresh watermelon and homemade ice cream sundaes for dessert.
Go Miniature Golfing- Go in the morning to beat the crowds and take advantage of any snack or lunch specials on site.
Have a water balloon fight- keep towels near the door so nobody drenches the house when you're done.
Make a Sprinkler Out of the Hose- tell your spouse you need to check the hose for leaks since it was accidentally left outside all winter.
Head to the beach- Pack a cooler with sandwiches, water and fresh fruit, as well as towels and sweat shirts.
Visit the water park- For water slide parks with picnic grounds and separate pools for swimming, consider day passes.
If it happens to be raining on June 21, consider these fun indoor activities.
Go on a Shopping Spree- have a mini fashion show with last year's summer clothes, sandals and bathing suits. Make a pile of clothes that are too small and create a list of what each child needs. Print coupons if available and go summer clothes shopping. Remember to set a budget before you go.
A different kind of shopping- go shopping for any backyard games, new sandbox toys or new balls, bats and nets for the yard for summer.
See a movie- A rainy day provides the perfect excuse to waste a couple of hours in a dark theater watching an animated movie.
While these activities are great for spending time with your family and friends on the first day of summer this year, they are also perfect for activities all summer long. Erie Sprout wishes everyone a fun and safe summer.
