Here we are one month later and the " changed me" is just like the one I left in 2010.
Lose weight
This is upper most in the minds of most people. If we visit family and friends, snacks are often served. They look soooo gooood that we must check them out. Soon the plate is empty and the calories are piled on us.
Start with the daily newspapers. WHY ? News casts on the radio and TV keep us up to the minute with happenings so that we know what is going on in the neighborhood and around the world. Expand your reading to magazines and books. They come in a range of titles and subjects. Magazines cover current events and topics from fashion to organizing. Remember you can borrow books from the library for free and many organizations have lending libraries for example churches and the Achievement Center. A world of knowledge lies between the covers.
Beverages
Personally, I don't care for anything with alcohol content. That leaves us with "pop" and "fruit" drinks. Both are high in calories therefore, we avoid them to keep the calories off of us. Milk is still "keeps a body good" however the best all around beverage is water with no calories. Hot water is great - made into coffee or tea then flavored to suite your individual taste. My Resolution is: To enjoy my beverage but keep the calorie and alcohol content down.
Exercise
The best exercise you can do is to "WALK". Choose a destination about a mile away and start to go toward it ( remember to start out slow and check with your doctor before starting any new exercise routine) You can change walking to running and extend your distance. Sounds boring to go by yourself ask a friend to join you. You can join a Y or a fitness center to use machines to help you with certain "areas" that need help.
Self Control
Try to avoid conflicts with people; starting with your own family. In this rough world, we get tense and desire to speak for our own rights. Every person has an idea of what is right and desirable. Our home is our sanctuary to get away from the pressures of the world. Remember the "golden Rule" - " Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."
Perhaps your resolutions are still active or have already gone by the wayside. However, just thinking about what we can do for our selves will help us make some self improvement gains in 2011.
