Well the bows and ribbon and decorations have all been packed away for another season. Hold on wait some of these things you can reuse or re purpose. You can even catch the after Christmas sales.
This re purposing came last year after picking up a few packages of "fake snow" (you know the fluffy stuff you put under the tree, or it is used as snow for those winter figures or collectibles. I opened up my package wondering what can I do with this and low and behold it was the same stuff that I bought for triple the price at the sewing store. Batting and stuffing they sell this stuff under the sir name of Christmas snow. Same thing. So I bought a few packages and used this up making pillows , comforters, toy' and other craft diddies I put together. This year caused me to rethink what else can I re purpose. I composed a list.
Stars
Many different items are in the shape of stars from gift wrap to muffin tins. Why not dig them out for Memorial day, fourth of July and Labor day ? White, silver, gold and blue can all be used. Wouldn't the little ones faces light up when you make star shaped cupcakes on the fourth of July.
Garland and Tinsel
Going with the same theme as the stars. Combined red white and blue garland and decorate the place where you might be having the picnic. Also grab the school colors wouldn't it look neat to tie balloons to the garland this would look a whole lot better than crape paper in the same price range when bought for 50-90 percent off. I had a little girls birthday in a princess theme how cute all the little girls looked with halos made of garland and ribbon all at a discounted price.
Paper Products
From plates to table cloths, linens and more these all can be re purposed. especially the plain colored ones. Green for St. Paddy's Day, red and white Valentines Day (you can get pink too). Silver and gold for weddings and anniversaries. ( wish I would have thought of this for my parents 50th anniversary).
Gift Baskets
Be careful and check the weight on the food sometimes even the biggest bargain is not a bargain. These can all be taken out of the packageand re-purposed. Lotion and soap can be put with a set of bath towels for a nice birthday gift for a collage student. One thing I like to do is buy several of these put a plate out of all my finds and have a home party with just my family. We rent a movie put our Jammie's on and watch the snow fly by. You can also buy the lotions and potions what a great sleep over party for the pre-teen girl? Take two champagne flutes, neat usually expensive candies, white candles, treats and a bottle of wine. This would make a sweet wedding present for the new bride and groom (some one did this for us and we loved it!)
Food
Candy, nuts, spices, yeast dried fruits, Stock up, many of these are very hard to find other seasons and most do not spoil. Two candy canes melted together making hearts for valentines day or get the brides colors for a bridal shower favor.
With a little imagination you can use those decorations and goodies all year round. If you have any ideas please share them with the sprout team
